Meeting with Minister of Economy and Planning Visiting from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met Faisal bin Fadel Al-Ibrahim, Minister of Economy and Planning visiting the country from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today.

Significance of fruitful cooperation between various government agencies of the two countries was highlighted at the meeting and prospects of intensified economic cooperation was defined as well. Establishment of a Joint Economic Committee of Cooperation between Georgia and Saudi Arabia was considered too. The Prime Minister of Georgia noted that he welcomes the entry of more investors from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Georgia. It was also noted that tourism is the fastest growing sector of the Georgian economy. Citizens of Saudi Arabia are travelling without a visa requirement and it is thrilling that the number of visitors from the Kingdom is rising annually.

Focus at the meeting was made on the military activities witnessed in Ukraine, along with security challenges created in the region of Eastern Europe. The Prime Minister of Georgia once again confirmed the solidarity and political support of Ukraine from Georgia, including those manifested in the multilateral formats.

Meeting held at the Government Administration was attended by Bandar Abdulohsen Al-Khamis, Deputy Minister for International Economic Affairs; Zaid Mohammed Al-Zaid, Executive Office Director; Amer Omar S. Omar, Acting Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Georgia. Georgian hosts included Levan Davitashvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development; Ilia Darchiashvili, Head of Government Administration.
